Baptism

The Bible teaches that baptism is the first step of obedience after making a commitment to follow Christ.

At New Hope,¬†believe that water baptism is more than an “outward symbol of an inward change,” and that when there is a genuine faith on the part of the person receiving baptism, it becomes a “means of grace” through which the Holy Spirit brings blessings to the person being baptized. We also believe that baptism¬†marks the decisive break with the old life of sin and spiritual bondage.

It is our belief that only believers in Jesus should be baptized. We find no scriptural support for infant baptism, and believe that scriptural baptism is by immersion, based on Acts 2:38 and Romans 6:1-4.
